ABOUT THIS WINE
Saint-Véran lies just to the south of the much more expensive Pouilly-Fuissé, in the view of many, the finest appellation of the Mâconnais.
The late, great Auberon Waugh wrote of it as being great white Burgundy on the cheap: “when you find a good one, buy lots of it at once”. Made by just six members of two southern Mâconnais families who have worked this land now for more than a hundred years, this is a honeyed, 100% Chardonnay with hints of tropical fruit beautifully balanced by the dryness and minerality of its limestone subsoil.
