For those with a penchant for properly aged claret, here are three vintages with over fifteen years of maturity and finesse.
The Wines:
2010 Château de Camensac, Cru Classé Haut Médoc
"A strong effort from this large estate, Camensac's 2010 offers up classic Bordeaux notes of tobacco leaf, licorice, red and black currants, and some spicy oak. It has light to medium tannin, medium body, and good purity and cleanliness. Anticipated maturity: now-2025."
Wine Advocate
2009 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, Cru Classé Pauillac
"Aromas of blackberries, unsmoked cigar tobacco and cedar/sagebrush jump from the glass of this dense purple-hued Pauillac. Full-bodied with more depth and richness than usual as well as moderate tannins, this potential sleeper of the vintage offers 15-20 years of aging potential. Moreover, it is modestly priced. Purchasers should give it 4-5 years of cellaring and enjoy it over the following two decades."
92pts, Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
2005 Château de Camensac, Cru Classé Haut Médoc
"Creamy, ripe and rich, there is lovely generous fruit here that is plush and plummy. Big tannins are rather swamping the palate, but cherry and ripe plum notes do come through and I've a hunch this will make for very nice drinking."
89pts, Tom Cannavan
