Simon W | 2019 Bourgogne Chardonnay, Famille Vincent
Critics are often pulled up for getting over-excited by how excellent a wine tastes when it is merely good, but not outstanding. This Bourgogne Chardonnay from the Vincent Family has an attractive pale gold colour to it, the appealing fragrant hazelnut tones on the nose turned my head, ouch the neck does not revel in too much movement!.
This chardonnay smacks of delivering quality - and it does. In this underrated wine there is good ripe and rich fruit, lovely texture across the palate with stunning depth, I even detected a hint of citrus.
This is quite simply an excellent White Burgundy and could be mistaken for a Pouilly Fuissé.
It needs your immediate attention so load up as the weather warms up with English asparagus, gull's eggs and langoustines in plentiful supply. It deserves the accolade of being an excellent wine of top quality and this is no exaggeration!
