2021 Grüner Veltliner Grosshöflein, Esterházy Estoras
Austrian wines are something of a well kept secret. Wines as charming as the country they grow in, yet wines that remain so reasonably priced. Grüner Veltliner (or GV, or Gru-V as it is often abbreviated) is Austrias signature grape, and one that has gained near-cult status among UK sommeliers because of its remarkable versatility with cuisine.
Enter the 2021 Gröshoflein Grüner Veltliner weve just shipped from our friends at Esterházy Estoras (Burgenland). Heres a white you can enjoy in almost any combination. One where subtle pear and white peach flavours alongside vivid, pink grapefruit freshness dovetail seamlessly with rich texture, notes of exotic spice and ground white pepper.
A perfect example of why more and more sushi lovers swear by a decent grüner. And how a stir fry or curry is supremely enhanced. Where there is delicious harmony with fish & chips, shellfish, smoked fish, and traditional, dry-cured meats. Its what wiener schnitzel, bratwurst and all manner of cheeses demand. All love grüner veltliner.
So expressive, so delicious. Here is a powerful, fruit-forward style, with almost a hint of white burgundy about it, and one hard to resist.

Tasting note
Fresh pear, quince and white pepper notes on the nose opening to vibrant, honeyed, nutty white fruit on the palate. Subtle toasty notes, hints of spice. Rich and creamy texture; brisk citrus freshness, rounding off with impressive length and depth on the finish.
