Fine Puligny-Montrachet Mixed Case
Mr.Wheeler's latest Puligny-Montrachet mixed case is here. For £390 per six, a ready way to experience white burgundy from the worlds long most prestigious, chardonnay-producing commune. Two bottles each, this time by the masterful hands at Domaine's Bachey-Legros, Alain Chavy, and Vincent Girardin in a respective graduation of Village, Vielles Vignes and lieu dit (single vineyard) expression.
From the 2022 vintage. An abundant, much-lauded year in which notably warm, dry conditions resulted in whites with an opulent fruit character, showing ripe citrus, stone fruit, and floral notes, yet always underpinned by Puligny-Montrachets signature raciness, minerality and tension. The mixed case includes:
2 x bottles of 2022 Domaine Bachey-Legros
Although based in Santenay, Samuel and Lénaïc Bachey-Legros have a well-sited parcel of vines in Puligny. The 2020 is a classy, concentrated example precise and classic, with elegant floral aromas leading to notes of ripe citrus, brioche, and roasted nuts. Striking on the palate, with a fine, almost effortless balance of intense green fruit, richness, and hallmark flintiness.

2 x bottles of 2022 Domaine Vincent Girardin, Vieilles Vignes
Vincent Girardins winemaker Eric Germain makes an expressive, powerful style of Puligny. Broad in texture with striking green apple fruit and classic mineral intensity. Made from 40-year-old vines, and showing real finesse and complexity, with bright citrus flavours. Finishes with a subtle toasty, smoky note from 14 months in barrel. Absolutely benchmark Puligny.

2 x bottles of 2022 Domaine Alain Chavy, Les Charmes
Even at this early stage in the wine's development there's a beautiful golden shimmer in the glass, hinting at a wine of great depth and concentration. The nose offers seductive aromas of dried apricot, pineapple and freshly sliced pear with a faint woody tone and sense of creaminess in the background. On to the palate and wow! endless layers of exotic stone fruit drift across with a warming cedar and a creamy texture. Where baked apple, intermingled with poached pear, apricot and spice all vie for your attention.
