Gouguenheim
The Gouguenheim winery is the creation of Patricio Gouguenheim who began his love affair with wine as a child when he was allowed a lttle bit of wine with his meals. Later in life during a career in mergers and acquisitions which took him to Mendoza, which although now is now at the heart of Argentina's wine industry, at the time was not the great centre of export is it today, but Patricio felt the strongly that there was a need for Argentina to gain a place on the world stage of wine. It was after 2002, when Argentina went through an economic crash that Patricio decided to enter the wine market at a time when everyone else was leaving. It was then that he came upon an old winery located in the Uco Valley about 70km from the city of Mendoza, which contained a number of small tanks which were ideal for the production of high quality wines that he had in mind. Since its beginning the winery has become one of the best performing wineries in Argentina, and its wines are now currently sold in 15 countries.
