2022 'Horizons' Rouge, Domaine de la Jasse, Languedoc
A new label for La Jasse, and exciting foray into the classic Occitanian tradition of blending syrah and grenache. Naturally, then, its one to appeal to lovers of Rhône Valley reds. Though primarily a cabernet sauvignon specialist, its only natural that Bruno Le Breton also apply his prowess to any varietal so indigenous to La Jasses terrain as grenache or syrah. In Horizons, a sumptuous blend of both, showing all the robustness, earthiness and remarkable depth of flavour for which the Languedoc is so renowned. Syrah very much takes the lead here, showing dark, inky, bramble-fruit flavours with a notable seasoning of mediterranean spice, anise and freshly-ground black pepper. Grenache adds warmth and expression to the rich, robust structure, with ripe blackberry, blackcurrant enveloped by supple, chewy tannins. As such, Horizons is the ideal partner to rich, hearty, spiced cuisine, and an intriguing new venture for Bruno Le Breton.
