2019 Saint-Joseph, Domaine du Tunnel

Stéphane's St-Joseph is a particularly classy expression of syrah. Certainly a substantial wine, but also with lovely purity of fruit, and quite some finesse. An alluring, perfumed nose with pronounced bramble fruit, and a hint of violets and exotic spice. Rich and generous on the palate with sweet, supple berry fruit, crunchy freshness and ripe tannins. Fermented at lower temperature to enhance aroma, and aged in 5-year barrels for 12 months.
