Produced from a limestone rich vineyard site and seeing 12 months in barrel, the Rays Road Pinot Noir opens with one of the most alluring, seductive, generous and persuasive aromatic profiles I have experienced from the variety in New Zealand. Pretty, elegant, full of life in an elegant, feminine way, there are inescapable notions of sweet lavender, pink petals and bright sappy red cherry. On the palate the wine is pure, voluminous and fresh with punchy sweet cranberry and crunchy black raspberry flavours.
