Now fully mature, this is an elegant, more ethereal Mouton. The nose is hugely expressive, revealing more and more with time in the glass. Very moreish. Pronounced red- and black-berry fruit at first, with a disarmingly aromatic freshness, and subtle nuances of exotic spice and fine coffee. After a few minutes, more secondary aromas, with a little leather, smoky meatiness, and a hint of sweet caramel. Bright and pronounced at first on the palate, where over time, tannins have gradually drifted away, putting this in a delicate, refined vein, rather than a powerhouse mode. The perfumed freshness from the nose continues on the palate with a subtle, almost menthol freshness and a bitter-cherry character to the fruit. Lots going on in this poised, pretty example of gracefully ageing Mouton.
