2018 Les Mattes, Les Vignes des Deux Soleils, Languedoc (magnum)

Deep, dark red in colour, bordering on black, with a wonderful aroma of dark forest-fruits and spice.  The palate is loaded with concentrated currant, dark-cherry and blackberry, with delicate spice and hints of dark chocolate. Its a wonderfully balanced wine and the well-judged use of fine, French oak has knitted the fruit flavours together perfectly, adding just the merest hint of vanilla and cigar box to the long, lingering finish. 

This is a rich, complex red and 12-months on from its release has just started to evolve in the bottle and open into something quite special. It will continue to develop in bottle for many years to come and if you are disciplined enough to tuck a case away for 5 years or so you will be well rewarded as the depth and complexity builds.
