2022 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Blanc, Maison Jaffelin
"... Jaffelin Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Beaune is from one of the smallest but oldest burgundy producers (est: 1816) and a classic of its type."
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine
2022 has proven to be a brilliant vintage for the region; a lengthy, warm summer preceded by a cool winter resulted wonderfully ripe fruit and it shows in this latest release.
There's an attractive silvery-gold shimmer in the glass, with vibrant, expressive aromas of pineapple, exotic stone-fruit and a subtle nougat-like character.
The palate follows suit offering exotic fruit; peach, pineapple and pear, with delicate stone-fruit, freshening citrus notes and a hint of salinity on the lengthy, dry finish, that slowly evolves into a delicately, creamy palate feal with orchard fruit re-emerging.
Judicious use of older, less influential, oak barrels has added gently to the texture, with a very slight hint of warming hazelnut and orchard fruit in the background with the flavours knitted together beautifully.
In summary; a thoroughly enjoyable white wine with levels of complexity and concentration that whilst delicious now, will also reward further cellaring.

This is an absolutely delightful wine. Plenty of body, good minerality and a lovely floral bouquet.
