2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 'Les Evocelles', Domaine Philippe Livera

The 2019 Evocelles cuvée is the perfect example of pure, modern Gevrey-Chambertin - superb on the nose, with hints of liquorice, winter spice lifting the juicy, dark cherry fruit. Glorious, and so approachable.

Domaine Livera is widely considered the 'next Burgundian star' tellingly by both their consumers and winemaking contemporaries. Son Damien has in 13 years taken the wines to a different level altogether, whose style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, and one quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (close friend and advisor). An address that is very much one to watch.
