2020 Côtes de Nuits Villages Rouge, Domaine Philippe Livera

Fruit from old vines averageing 65 years for stunning quality here: beautifully smooth and juicy, with very lightly grippy tannins. Black and red summer berries mingle with earthy notes, winter spice and a hint of plum. Very, very moreish.

Domaine Livera is widely considered the 'next Burgundian star' tellingly by both their consumers and winemaking contemporaries. Son Damien has in 13 years taken the wines to a different level altogether, whose style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, and one quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (close friend and advisor). An address that is very much one to watch.
