2022 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains, Brocard
Jean-Marc Brocard has been a consistent performer in Chablis for many years and he is a great source of good value Chablis. Made in a very traditional style, with a focus on mineral, flinty notes and a complexity of elegant fruit, which still finishes beautifully crisp and racy. This Chablis will continue to develop for three to five years. Try with smoked salmon or fresh shellfish.
excellent Chablis , crisp citrusy and full of flavour. Fantastic wine thoroughly enjoyable
Bought for a friends birthday and I only got a mouthful. She loved it. I liked it and unlike the previous reviewer on brief acquaintance I thought it did have some depth and structure and certainly more complexity than a basic Chablis.
Clear and bright. Nose rather muted with just a touch of minerality. On the palate, dry, lemony and very fresh but where is the minerality? For a Premier Cru even at this stage I would have expected greater concentration and a broader palate. Time may help, but this tasted more like a Chablis than a 1er Cru. For the price, a disappointment and I am a lover of the wines of Brocard. This tasted as if it came from younger vines too. I will try my next bottle in 2024 but I don't hold out much for this.
