2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur, Rossignol-Trapet

Just below Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Clos Prieur is a lovely 1er Cru and an interesting contrast to Petite Chapelle. Perhaps a little lighter in style than its sibling, but no less appealing - tighter perhaps, with elegance and smart, pronounced primary fruit. Grippy, but very fruit-driven, with a dark, spicy crunch on the finish.
