2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard
In recent years with prices for the Grand Crus in Chassagne and Puligny absolutely rocketing, Corton-Charlemagne has become increasingly the best place to hunt if you are after some of the best whites of the Côte d’Or, and indeed some of the best whites in the world. This example from Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard showcases elegant complexity of honey, nuts and flowers, soft yellow-fleshed fruits and citrus. Every bit the Grand Cru in its intensity, complexity and persistence, this will be very fine indeed given 4 to 6 years in the bottle.
