ABOUT THIS WINE
Produced from Negromaro and the lesser known Malvasia Nera local varieties, Paolos Salentino is a big, dark textured wine which is just brimming with the wonderful flavours of the Med.
Black cherry and vanilla on the nose leads on to a palate of rich dark stewed fruit and spice making it the perfect accompaniment to highly flavoured comforting meat dishes. Paolo Leo is a family producer dating back to the turn of the 20th Century who beautifully manages to combine the traditional methods of growing, manually harvesting free standing bush vines with more modern techniques in the winery to create a wine that is both as natural and as pleasurable as possible, and in this they certainly succeed.

I’ve had Salice Salentino in the past, but find it hard to come by these days. This example is first class. Great on the nose and even better on the palate!
A sumptuous and quite complex wine. Great value for money as is the norm from this vineyard.
