ABOUT THIS WINE

A small-production single-vineyard rosé, made only from Pinot Noir. The result is a crisp, delicate, off-dry cuvée to so deliciously exemplify the sheer quality England now achieves in the production of rosé wines. Pairs well fish, salads and spicy foods.

Tasting Note
To begin, an irresistible shimmering pale salmon pink hue in the glass. Then an expressive, aromatic nose with bright summer fruits and ripe cherries and subtle floral notes. Really striking freshness and purity here, with citrus zip on the palate dovetailing nicely with notable intensity and texture. Pronounced morello cherry and red berry fruit suggest the merest hint of sweetness, but the finish is crisp, clean and tangy. A smart, stylish rosé with real presence, clarity and character.

Producer Information

Producer Information - Higham Vineyard, Suffolk

Higham Vineyard sits on the north side of the Stour Valley in Suffolk and is owned by good friend of mine, David Alston. David took on this wonderful site in 2019 and has since been managing the vineyard personally - management that resulted in a most impressive début vintage last year.

The scenic village of Higham is just three miles from our offices in Constable Country where in 1804 it became the subject of a painting by the great artist himself. The south-facing view of Higham from the vineyard remains much like what John Constable captured on canvas over two centuries ago.

Under the guidance of a New Zealand-trained winemaker of strong pedigree, his single-estate pinot noirs thrive on the valley's rich, flinty soils.

Johnny Wheeler, Chairman, Mr.Wheeler.
