2021 Fixin, Domaine Philippe Livera
Deep, intense, brooding; nuances of wood embers and Black Forest ham on the nose. Warmth and generosity in the glass with flecks of bitter chocolate to suggest a bright, ripe character. Fantastic on the palate: saturated, deep, with black plum, clove, cinnamon spice, purple berry and strawberry conserve. Modern, bold, yet fresh and lithe; a most alluring, modern pinot noir delivering excellent value for money.
About the producer, Domaine Philippe Livera:
Domaine Livera is widely considered the 'next Burgundian star' tellingly by both their consumers and winemaking contemporaries. Son Damien has in 13 years taken the wines to a different level altogether, whose style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, and one quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (close friend and advisor). An address that is very much one to watch.
