2022 Bourgogne Blanc, Alain Chavy (dispatched mid-November)
2022 was a warmer year than the 2021 that preceded it, and that extra touch of warmth is evident in the glass with greater expression of fruit on both nose and palate.
In the glass a faint golden shimmer greets you accompanied by aromas of ripe orchard fruit, apple and pear skin with a hint of citrus and faint waft of oak.
The palate follows the aromas, quite fruit-forward and concentrated at this early stage, crisp orchard fruit, poached pear and apple evolving to a smooth creaminess on the lengthy, dry finish, punctuated with a crisp, freshening streak of minerality.
There's a lovely texture and weight, as with previous vintages only around 10% is vinified in old French oak barriques, so it really is down to the quality of fruit and winemaking skill which adds to the richness and delightful mouth-feel.
This really is a superb wine, such class and finesse it oozes the elegance and charm of the Puligny region, but at a very compelling price.
This follows perfectly in the footsteps of the delicious 2020 and 2021 vintage which we offered earlier in the year (and sold out within hours!)
