ABOUT THIS WINE
A sumptuous, highly drinkable malbec - resplendent in its smart new livery - now called 'Cepas' this is a definite cut above most malbecs around, and hails from a specific 48-hectare vineyard terroir - 'Alto Agrelo'. Malbec is Argentina's signature grape, and very much one of the world's favourite reds. Penedo Borges's Cepas is a great illustration of why - with its freshness, vibrant fruit and luscious texture.
Tasting Note
The 2021 Cepas kicks off with fresh, minty blackberry fruit on the nose with notes of roasted coffee and nuances of a sizzling, smoky barbecue. A strikingly fresh and particularly pure expression of malbec showing warm, sweetish bramble fruit, savoury spice, and soft ripe tannins. Really characterful, well-balanced, and quite perfect for the season. Buy this by the case!
